the jerk store called

Hey Bush Fans, the jerk store called. pt2
Back to Full Blog

Son of a Bitch! Will this shit never end? I’m sure you’ve all seen the tape by now. You know, the one in which Bush is told exactly how bad shit was going to be when Katrina hit.

Before we get any further, those of you that have yet to see this video need to go and watch it. It’s a little less than three minutes long. Whether you finish reading this piece or not EVERYONE should see this video. Just “copy & paste” the URL below into your address window, and the media player should be on the page it brings up after you scroll down a bit.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/01/AR2006030101731_2.html?referrer=email&referrer=email

I’m going to assume that you watched it and say, HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT? I know by now that nothing will be done about this but if anyone that sees that isn’t outraged then they’ve got their heads shoved so far up their Asses they can see the backs of their teeth.

I’m not going to go into the long list of catastrophic mistakes made in the handling of this disaster because we have all seen the list many times by now. I’m also not going to write about the fact that he said “ …we are fully prepared…” because nothing I write will prove how retarded that statement is more than anything we’ve already seen. What I am going to do is go through the many ways our chicken shit President is dodging the blame that is rightfully his in concern to his mishandling of Katrina.

The argument has been made that this video proves that our man-child President was involved from the time before Katrina hit. So fucking what? Is anybody here allowed to claim, “I was there the whole time” as an excuse for a major mess up at your jobs? (If you say yes then email me because I could sure use a job like that.) Doesn’t that make it worse? He knew it was going to be ape shit crazy the whole time and STILL managed to react so slowly that everybody assumed he must have been out of the loop.

Bush’s Propaganda gurus have also said that “the boy who would be King” was fully engaged but left operational decisions up to the agencies in charge. That is no excuse whatsoever. This is the man that has spent half his time in office telling us about what a strong leader is. In my eyes a strong leader delegates what he can afford to and takes control of the shit that he knows is going to be bonkers. This tape proves that he knew that this was going to be bad and didn’t stand up and say, “Whoa guys, sit down. This one calls for some Presidential style leadership”. What are we paying him for if not to lead?

In case after case this cuckolded boob has escaped any responsibility for his actions/inaction by wrapping him self in a blanket of “delegation”. When are you Repugs going to wake up and realize that the person at the top is ultimately responsible for the fuck ups of his subordinates?

That was just a portion of the simpering fool’s political damage control. What else was on that tape that proved that our President isn’t fit to run a Dairy Queen let alone a country? His next step in shedding the blame for this disaster is a more proactive approach and one he’s used to great effect in the past.

He was once again caught on tape lying to save his own ass. NO, I’m not being melodramatic. He said nobody could have predicted the levy failure and this tape proves that the nation’s leading hurricane experts told him point blank that that exact scenario was a “very very grave concern”. Explain to me how that's not a lie. You won’t because you can’t. You Repugs are reading this right now thinking to yourself “he’s just exaggerating” because way down deep you don’t want to believe that he lied to us but at this point you have no choice but to face the facts. He did lie and that wasn’t the first time.

History will show that we are in a situation in this country that is almost identical to the old story “the Emperor’s new clothes”. The world is going to look back on this time in our country and see that supporters of this administration are so convinced of the President’s infallibility that they are walking the streets naked with their dicks in their hands. It’s obvious to every one but them that we are watching a man bumble his way through life like it’s some kind of horrible reality TV show. It might even be entertaining if the backdrop for this “hit” series weren’t the Oval Office.

I have just about run out of patience with you people. I probably would have completely given up on you by now if it weren’t for the important role you guys play in the daily operation of my favorite store at the local mall. And speak of the devil, that’s them on the phone right now. I’m glad at least somebody has found a use for you guys. Hey all of you Bush Fans blinded by your pride, the jerk store called. They ran out of you.

P.S. I meant all Bush supporters except for those of you that read my blog. You’re different. I don’t know how, but you are.

Moody,
Bush has made many mistakes and I don't defend all of his actions. (For example, I support the Iraq war but feel he, the DOD, and the military did not provide enough soldier power to stabilize the country). However; what could he have done in the 48 hours after this Katrina briefing that would have led to anything but panic in the streets of NO? The scene probably would have looked like a Japanese Godzilla flick with people running wild. He sure as hell couldn't have had the levees repaired in that time. (On the federal level, my guess is that officials going back as far as Nixon wondered and raised concerns about the safety of the levees.) I'd like to hear just once someone say that Nagin and Blanco and their predecessors in NO (it ain't called the Big Easy for nothing) share some of the blame and responsibility. Bush has done his share of damage -- all the Presidents I've read about historically have made their share of blunders -- but he's done some good too (Islamic terrorists and other enemies of the US now know that we're not just all talk and not action -- that there are sometimes consequences). At the end of the day (term) and after some time passes (so we can get perspective) we can decide on a President's performance. When Harry Truman was president, he was vilified. Most historians now say he was the right person at the right time. As for Bush, I think your jerkstore phone call is a bit premature.

In my previous Katrina post I mentioned that the Democrats at the state and local level were very much at fault in the disaster but I also said that they're local officials and since they don't effect me they have escaped my textual tongue lashings.

I also wrote in one of my prior posts that the Bush White House new of the levy breach a day before they admitted it. If they had acted when they first got the news thousands of people could have been evacuated and who knows how many lives could have been saved.

I don't Blame the White House for the hurricane or the breaking of the levies but I DO hold them responsible for their criminaly slow reaction to any and all news they recieved.

I agree that Bush was far too slow to realize the magnitude of the situation. His administration was clumsy and appeared ineffective, never good from a political standpoint. I'm not sure, however, what they could have done in that short a period of time in order to bring the governor and the mayor onto the same page and martial all the necessary manpower and material to effect a rescue. There were three bureacracies involved here and according to Boss Dann's FBR (Formula of Bureaucratic Responsidynamics) -- ART = EBT x NAA. ART is actual response time; EBT is Efficient Business Response Time. NAA is Number of Agencies involved (note: if a federal agency is involved, the multiplier must be tripled, whether Democrats or Republicans are in power). In our NO example, let's assume an efficient business (like Fedex) could have responded in 3 days. ART = EBT (3) x NAA (9). Actual Response Time = 27 days. This is sad, but true. And it's been true for a long time. Bill Clinton would have probably had similar problems but he would have been a lot smoother and sensitive appearing in his response. Many people would have felt better. But I think the logisitical problems of a governmental reaction to the crisis would have been the same and would have produced a similar result .

The President didn't need any of the local officials on the same page as he was to order people evacuated. The Federal Government could have sent people in to evacuate the citizens with no one's permision but their own.

Half of what makes me mad about this is the shady way in which they've gone about deflecting blame. This is just one in a long line of mistakes that the President has dodged responisibility for.

Ohhh puhleeease he also said he was confident that FEMA was going to be able to handle it well like they had in the past. The man has already said he screwed up what more do you want...his blood? And ask the gov. of LA and the mayor of N.O. why they weren't more prepared since that was their state that was hit as well as a few other states. In NO they knew they were below sea level and they knew from the past how the levees were not in the best condition. If a major hurricane like Katrina hit here I would expect Gov Pataki and my NY elected officials to be doing things right away to help all of us isn't that normal procedure? Interesting that when the WTC attacks hit it was NY officials that stepped up to bat and helped the citizens they did not wait for President Bush and considering that there was no advancing warning about these attacks ( unlike Katrina where there were advance warnings, even a week b4 she hit there were warnings that it was a category 5), it tells you how great our elected NY officals were on that horrific day. NYers are the best!!!

A couple of comments that I will put down in a grocery list style as oppossed to a long paragraph of eloquence (just to make it easy):
1) They warned him of grave danger and were unsure as to wether or not the levee's would be breached
2)He says on the Diane Sawyer interview that he didn't know if the levee's would breach and DID know that they were in grave danger
Hmmmm seems pretty consistant to me!
2a.)The tape of the warning laden video conferance was submitted to the media the end of August, why is this being broke now as breaking news. I smell hijinx scooby or at least the remnence of Natalie Holloway syndrome!
3)Here in CA we have disastors as well (mudslides, earthquakes, flashfloods, and fires) If you choose to live somewhere that is a danger or in the case of New Orleans an extreme danger, it is YOUR choice (and don't tell me poverty is a reason to stay hobos move around all the time and they are broke)
4)Doesn't the levee funding issue go back to 1995 during the hay days of BJ Bubba?
5)Moody, swearing is great keep up the good work you make the fight more fun and even challenging at times

Donuts,

What I want is for the President to be held to the same standards as the rest of us. If through negligence we cause deaths they charge us with "criminaly negligent homicide". I'm not saying he should be arrested but for him to say "my bad" and then have everybody forget about it isn't fair to the people that died because he didn't act to have them evacuated. You say he has claimed responsibility but I can't remeber him ever saying anything other than that the federal government made mistakes.

R.E.,

Pleading ignorance is no excuse. Living in St. Louis I have some experience with flooding on a grand scale. If you remember, in the summer of '93 St. Louis was hit with what they called at the time a "100 year flood".

Having lived through that I can tell you that any body worth their salt knows that "topped" is synonymous with "breached" when your dealing with that much water. Once water starts to flow over the top of levys they begin to erode and a breach is all but inevitable. The President and his aids knew that and if they didn't, their ignorance is no less outrageous.

To argue breached vs. topped is like arguing bombed vs. explosion.

about 2a) Why do you propose they delayed the release?

We're kind of in the same boat as you as far as living in danger. With the Missouri and the Mississippi Rivers on two sides there is always the question of how bad you need to feel when the people knowingly decided to live on a flood plane.

I'm not blaming the disaster on the President. There have been people barking at the Feds about the levys for years. I just think the Pres needs to be held responsible for his gross ineptitude.

He did take responsiblity saying that he screwed up and then the gov of LA and the mayor of NO both took some of the blame as well. You cannot just blame him and I think it is this popular notion for some in the media and most in Hollywood to paint Republicans and especially President Bush as a heartless, hypocritical, power hungry, greedy oaf who did not care at all about the people in NO, no one is that rotten. He would be a sociopathic psychotic to be that way.

And you know that if you think he somehow was responsible for all the tragic loss of life in LA and the other states affected by the worst storm to ever hit the USA then you need to find the politicians in LA and the other states afftected by Katrina as responsible as well as mother nature.

Will you blame him for mudslides or tornadoes or earthquakes or other catestrophic natural occurances where death unfortunately is a by-product?

Honestly I do not get this seething hatred people have for President Bush, to me it is weird and displaced almost like he symbolizes something in their own lives that they despise so they scapegoat him, I really do not get this intense anger and it started way before he was even president, it is like a segment of the population has deemed him as well as most Republicans as monsters and evil doers, I really don't get it...do these people get as enraged over I dunno real criminals in the real world. I read horrible stories everyday about terrible human beings, I just read about a guy who last year fought with his g/f and in a fit of anger bit her face below her eye tore out flesh and spat it on the street she needed extensive facial reconstruction and still has scars that will never go away, I also read of some incredibly evil 37 year old woman who was a daycare worker and she tried numerous times to have sex with a 4 year old boy, that child too is now scarred emotionally as well as physically, and there is a beautiful 24 year old law student who was raped sodomized and brutally murdered in NYC w2ho's sweet family is in shock and morning over this heartless brutal murder of her. I could go on and on, these slobs make my blood boil, not politicians and certainly not a figure head like a president who is human and makes mistakes but I believe he does try to do the right thing. I don't see the evil man so many see.

Donuts,

As adament as you are about him claimiing responsibility I'm going to take your word for it. Anway, I'm not saying he did it on purpose, I'm saying that he screwed up big enough that there should be consequences. His Presidency is riddled with mistakes that have cost American lives. Here's three off the top of my head. 1.) He ignored a breefing that told of Bin Laden's plans to attack the US. 2.) Assuming the war in Iraq was a good idea (which I don't believe it was) he went in to Iraq with our troops underequipped, and with no long term plan to deal with insurgents. 3.) He failed to take charge of the Katrina disaster and didn't act to evacuate citizens of NO even after he was informed of the levy breaches.

You don't have to hate the man to believe he is inept and has continuosly cost American lives with his poor decisions.

If the officials in the Louisiana State Government effected my life then I would be all over them too but they don't and nor do the officials of NO. I focus on Bush because his actions directly influence my daily life.

If you can't see why people have major problems with the President by now then I don't know what to tell you. The only thing I CAN tell you is that it has nothing to do with projecting our lifes problems on to a random politician.

In the middle of your last paragraph you start telling me horrible stories. I can't even begin to know how to respond to that.

Cut the Repubs some slack. Coming to terms with a disbelief of what you once defended is difficult and takes time. The job you are looking for is any position at the United Nations.

Thank you for capitalizing Asses, I appreciate the respect. Kumbaya, hubris, kumbaya.
